Location
Shanaska Creek is in Le Sueur County Kasota is crossed by Shanaska Creek (also Shahaska and Chankaska, a Dakota name, used by Nicollet, meaning "forest-enclosed"), the outlet of Lake Washington; Spring Creek, about three miles farther north; and Cherry Creek at the north end of this township, flowing into the Minnesota River near Ottawa village. Lake Williams or Plaza, and Long Lake, each very small, are in the southern part of Kasota, and the larger Lake Emily near its center.
