The Dakota people have lived in Minnesota the longest, with a history that goes back hundreds of years. After the 1862 Dakota War, only a few Dakota remained in the state. Dakota artist, poet and scholar Gwen Westerman will share her perspective on modern Dakota people and their special place in Minnesota.
This program is presented in collaboration with the City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis Public Schools in support of the annual "One Minneapolis, One Read" event.
